The Doorsets are tested to a Severe Duty rating which is the highest grade a timber doorset can achieve. Excellent results have already been achieved under the new EU standard EN1634 which is likely to be soon adopted with BS476 Part 22 being withdrawn.

Our standard three layer particle board core has an average density of 650kg/m3 resulting in not only excellent sound retention (see acoustic section), and mechanical duty rating but it has also performed excellently in recent cycle tests. The certified doors/doorsets are independently tested under British Woodworking Federations (BWF) Certifire scheme with the BWF being the leading representative for door manufacturers. Fire certification from FD30 right through to FD120 is available in a number of designs, including veneered, paint grade and laminate. Factory glazing and vision panels with over 20 different types of glass can be certified with vision panels being available in a variety of shapes and sizes providing the overall glazing size does not exceed 1.29m2 on the FD30 doors and 0.82m2 on the FD60 doors.

Changes in the industry, due to a lack of skilled workmanship are resulting in a large proportion of doorsets being procured as complete doorsets arriving onsite fully serviced for and often fitted with all relevant ironmongery. European Door Sets has for some time now been involved with the procurement of ironmongery and deals direct with manufacturers resulting in very competitive rates

Designs

Subject to some limitations (fire) we are able to provide a wide variety of detailing with frames being able to be supplied as rebated, loose stops, split frames (adjustable), extension linings, quirk / shadow detailing, integral architraves, pvc wrapped, factory finished etc. We can also offer fanlights, overpanels, timber screens, skirting board and architrave.

The doors are banded into three main types, veneered, paint grade and laminate / protection. The veneers which are the most popular choice are available in a vast range of colours and styles, with the most popular being Oak, Ash, Cherry & Steamed Beech. Veneered doors have either 6mm or 10mm Hardwood matching lippings to all four edges concealed or exposed. Inlaid veneers with contrasting colours are becoming more apparent to suit the latest DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) requirements. Veneered doors are finished in a clear eggshell lacquer which provides added protection or we are able to individually tint doors to match existing ones that may be on site. This is a very popular choice when a replacement door is adjacent to an existing one, a simple color swatch is taken and relevant dyes added to the lacquer.

Paint grade doors can be primed with two coats ready for on site painting, or factory finishing is available with our High Density particle board face ideal for a smooth high gloss finish.

Laminate doors are often chosen where high traffic is expected as they provide an impact resistant service. Should high impact be expected a number of alternatives are available including Acrovyn. 10mm Hardwood exposed lippings are usually applied to laminate doors although post formed or “fully encapsulated “doors can be specified. Feature Bespoke doors are available with plant on moulds, cassettes, bead detailing, feature grooving and raised and fielded panels all of which can be fully certified.
